landscape

For this assignment we had to photograph landscape. I chose to shoot a mountin scape because I knew I could get some good shots and good angles. Over all I think I took maybe 20 photos while in the mountains but the photos above were the ones liked the best. The photo on top is the begining of a trail leading to small but beautiful water falls. The photo in the middle is the pool of water that you see coming down from the trail. Finaly, the photo on the bottom is the second pool of water over looking a shere drop. I chose these three photos because they make a sequence and i thought that was pretty cool. Over all, I like taking landscape photos because i find it peiceful and relaxing.

Timeline
For this assignment we had make a timeline of photography history. We had basic questions that we had to answer and then we had to find the history of photography within another subject like advertisement for example. My group chose to research the background of cameras and how they advanced over the years. We came up with this awesome idea to make a pinhole camera with the timeline inside of it. We transfered our info from printed paper onto rice paper and made a scroll out of it. We used pencils for the ends of the scroll so we could advance the info. It was cool because we put the history of cameras inside a pinhole camera. Over all I enjoyed this assignment and found it fun.
ANGLES:
This assignment was about interesting angles. My group and I went around the school capturing images with interesting angles. This photo above was shot in front of the grand theatre with brian sitting on the railing. I took a couple of shots from different angles but I found that the the lower angle looked better. The lower angle provided interesting lines with in the photo. It makes your eyes move around the image and there is nothing distracting. In my opinion this photo is succesful. through this assignment i found that i like lower angles as apose to higher angles. In the end this assignment was fun and it made me think about changing angles to make the photo more interesting .

portrait:
For this assignment we had to take a portrait of someone we cared about using window lighting. It couldn't just be a snap shot, the photo had to show the model, comfortable and natural. Over spring break I went around my house looking for the best place to take this portrait. I found that the window in my bedroom had an amazing light that shines through it at about 5:30. Once i had my place I had my model sit and look towards the corner of the room so that the light would reflect off of her eyes. When taking the photos i realized that i could move my blinds allowing me to control how much light shines on my model. I took a couple of test shots and I liked this lighting the best. Out of the photos i took ,this one looks the best. the lighting is perfect and my model looks natural and comfortable.

Group photo:
For this assignment we had to take a photograph that represented our school. In my group, we chose to portray the many different arts at our school. We chose a photographer, a dancer, an artist and two musicians. When we scouted for places to shoot we all seemed to like this place the best. The hardest part of this shoot was arranging our models. We had a general idea of how we wanted them but we ended up changing it up. The right lighting was pretty easy to find and we were able to set up the strobe lights in a way to give the photo more contrast/detail. Our models were awesome, they listened to us and tried to do what we wanted them to do. once we took our photos we printed them. Only a few of them were really good, the others were just okay. So we just the best and this is just one of them. Overall this assignment was fun and we got to learn how to use strobe and work with a group of models.

Response to Manjari Sharma's Work

Manjari Sharma's work is influential to me because in her portraits she uses subjects that have a natural aura giving them their point of essence. Her capture on the people she takes shots of are unexplainable and I like the way she portrays her photos. Her portraits that she portrays are quite beautiful and the scenery of her photos are also rich. The lighting she uses have great focal points on the subjects because they show their true personalities. Her focus on the people in the portraits are bright and have great contrast and it is very enjoyable. Plus her process of her works are nice. In the assignment that will be assigned to us, I hope I can create a portrait as good as Sharma's.
